American Soccer Chant

Anyone else notice how the American soccer chant (Uhhhhh Ohhhhhhh!) sounds an awful lot like Oh My Darling Clementine and the Willow theme song? I actually dig it at first then the end is just kinda like… “WTF, are we kindergardeners now?” or did the person who invented the chant just give up in the end bit and say “OH WELL! I am too lazy to come up with the rest. Willow My Darling it is!”

Zidane Headbutt Game

Well Zidane’s infamous headbutt from Sunday’s World Cup match has already inspired an internet game. It’s nothing fancy, but it sure as hell came out quick.

Zidane Called a Dirty Terrorist

According to some well informed people in the soccer world what set Zinedine Zidane off at Sunday’s World Cup game against Italy was that Materazzi allegedly called him a “Dirty Terrorist”.

Materazzi denies this and says he doesn’t even know what the word means. Anti-racism group SOS Racism quoted well informed sources that this is indeed what the notoriously rough playing itallian said. SOS has also called for an inquiry and would like to see newly set sanctions applied to Materazzi if racial slurs were used.

Itallians in the past have stereotypically been accused of being very racist. I am not saying I agree. If anything Materazzi perpetuates this stereotype and does a diservice to Italy, France and Soccer with his attitude.

I don’t think it was a fluke that he pulled that stunt when the game was likely to go into penalty kicks. It is too bad Zidane was drawn into it though. A damn shame.

Zidane Headbutts Materazzi

WTF!? How could Zidane do that. Jesus Christ. That headbutt cost France so much. I am so disappointed in Zidane. He was my favorite player. Figures it would come down to PKs without Zidane. I am really curious to know what Materazzi said to get one of the most honorable players to do that. Must have been pretty damn bad.

I can’t believe Zidane ended his career like that. That is a disgrace to him and the entire  French team. I can only imagine how disappointed his family is in him right now. I am guessing Materazzi said some horrbie shit. I hope Zidane gives an interview and tells us exactly why the fuck he allowed words to piss him off enough to cost France the World Cup.

FRANCE GOES TO THE FINAL

FUCK YES! France and Italy are going toe to toe for the final FIFA World Cup Game! Did you watch today’s game? Intense last few minutes! Zidane is the fucking man. Him and Barthez man, holy shit.

I thought it was awesome that Zidane traded jerseys and arm bands with the Portugese captain after the game. How much more sportsmanly can you be? ZIDANE!

I am a little sad to see this being his last game on Sunday. I have just started getting into soccer and my favorite player is on his way out. Ah well, I still have Henry and Barthez!

Italy vs Germany FIFA World Cup 2006

The game between Italy and Germany today was one of the oddest games I have ever seen played. They go into over time, are minutes away from a shootout and Italy blasts 2 goals in a matter two minutes or so.

Lucia is thrilled her team (Italy) is going to the big game. I am hoping France takes out Portugal tommorrow, even if it takes 120 minutes to do it!

If France does win (they play July 5th @ 11:30am PST) we are going to have quite the rivalry going in this house!

FIFA World Cup Fantasy Futball

I built my fantasy futball team tonight over at the McDonalds/FIFA World Cup Fantasy site and it pretty much rocks!

The Vaudevillains consisit of:

Forwards: Adriano-Bra, Henry-Fra

Midfielders: Captain: Zidane – Fra, Carrick-Eng, Barnetta-Sui, Barone-Ita

Defenders: Barzagli-Ita, Carragher-Eng, Boulahrouz-Ned, Burdisso-Arg

Goalie: My main man BARTHEZ-FRANCE

FIFA World Cup France

DAMN! Did you see the France vs Brazil game this afternoon? Oh my god France is fucking amazing. I have to give Brazil props for not letting France score more than 1-0 but France was obviously the superior team today. Best game so far.

Barthez is the man from now on. I have never seen such an awesome goalie. Dude was like: “NO!” NOPE!” “UH UH!” “I DON’T FUCKING THINK SO!” and “I’m kicking this mother fucker across the field bitches!” Don’t even get me started on the awesomeness of Henry and Zidane.

I was already a France fan because it is a large part of my ancestry but it’s great to see they are an amazingly kick ass team too. Brazil is the team to beat. I’m hoping for France vs Italy so Lucia and I can have a rivalry! It could happen. I do not want to see Germany and Portugal, if Germany and Portugal make it I will be very unhappy!

Did you see how sad the Brazilians fans were when they lost? I don’t blame them but man, they love them some fut ball!
